What a difference it is already making in my swimming, biking and running just by being consistent with a plan. I think the three days a week in the pool are the biggest thing since I am now able to tackle repeat 100's.
I added weight work today as a test. I wasn't sure which day to throw it in, hard day easy day. Today was an easy, short run so I finished with a circuit on the Nautilus equipment.
The real question with using a non-personalized plan is am I able to make it work for me. This is instead of working with a coach. The other question I have to figure out is, how many and what type of races do I do next year before my half-ironman.

One Week Down
Well, I've completed week one of the Tri-newbie plan and it went very well. Even with the doubles on three days I never felt beat. It will get tougher. The only thing I haven't done is add in weight training but I'm not sure on which days to do it. If I add it to an easy day will it be an easy day no longer? This week I'll add weights at least once.
Received a real attaboy this month. The Greater Rochester Track Club will be inducting me into the GRTC Hall of Fame in January, I'm honored.

Back from the South
We've been in South Carolina for the last 6 weeks at our other home. Came home to 30 degree days and snow. While we were there I got in lots of good running and biking outdoors and swam at the local YMCA. The only bad part was that the coach I thought was going to work with me was not returning my emails or phone calls. Not sure what I've done to her that caused this so I went ahead on my own.
I took a week off when we got back and yesterday I started the Half Ironman plan from TRi-Newbie. It seems very do-able for me. Yesterday was 1100 meter swim and later a 25 mile bike. Today is another 1100 metr swim and later a 40 minute run. The plan builds for 20 weeks.
With this being Thanksgiving week I may have to adjust things a bit but that's half the fun.

September 28, 2008 Sunday
Today was supposed to be the Formula One Duathlon at Mendon Ponds Park but since it rained all night and was still raining in the morning I decided to blow it off and swim with the Masters Team at the Westside YMCA. I'm very skittish riding on wet roads since I've had a couple of crashes already and the thought of being laid up and not training for several weeks makes me nervous. I'm condidering today the first day of training for the Musselman Half Ironman in 2009. Wish me luck.
Swimming was great today. The warm up was right up my alley, 8X25, no problem. Then it got harder but I got through it and we did 1600 yds.
